Life is a sport. Everyone is an athlete. The cells in your body don’t know if you are gearing up for your first jog in years or lining up for the 100M Olympic finals. The world of sports medicine and human performance focuses on preparing the athlete for optimal health and performance. The athlete needs to develop a lifestyle that results in peak condition. I am captivated by this emphasis on a healthy lifestyle for peak performance both on a personal level of training for triathlons as well as a professional level being a physician. I believe my greatest responsibility as a physician is to teach. So my mission is to take the time tested principles that lead to peak athletic performance and apply them to your life. Whether you are preparing for an Ironman or wanting to reduce your risk of disease or cut down on the medications you take. The principles are the same. A healthy lifestyle brings results. My focus is on the five facets of health: Activity, Nutrition, Sleep, Recovery, and Mental Fitness. In order to reach optimal health and make meaningful changes, you need to be improving in every one of these areas. My goal is to give you the tools to do this in your life and empower you to educate those around you.
